Our Beginners Course

Thinking of taking up Archery?

If you’re hoping to join Enfield Archers or any archery club, you’ll need to complete a beginners course to ensure you can shoot safely and get advice on the best techniques to hit the bullseye.

Find out more about our Beginners Course…

  • This course is primarily for individuals who are looking to take up Archery as a sport who have little or no previous experience. The course is also suited for individuals who have previous experience in Archery but would like to refresh their skills, usually after an long break from the sport.

  • The course is subject to demand. We always run the course during Summer months, primarily during July. However, with enough interest we can run the course at different points in the year.

Please feel free to contact the club secretary for further information on dates.

  • We undertake our training on our outdoor range located in Enfield, EN1. The exact location will be provided when you enquire.

  • To enrol on to the beginners course, archers must be 14 or over. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • The course takes four sessions to complete. Each session runs on a Saturday for four consecutive weeks. Usually each session usually runs from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

  • Upon completion our beginners course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to shoot confidently and most importantly, safely.

The course will introduce you to the two most common styles found in modern archery, Barebow and Olympic recurve.

Barebow is the practice of shooting a bow without using any aiming aids such as sights, conversely Olympic Recurve Archery is the practice of using sights in order to assist in shooting.

Range safety is a priority, so with this in mind you will learn how to shoot safely by keeping yourself and your fellow archers safe, under the supervision of a fully qualified coach and field captain.

  • No. You will be provided with all the equipment you need, including a bow, arrows, arm guard, field quiver and finger tabs. Our bows will be able to accommodate people who shoot left or right handed.

  • The complete course cost £65.00. Further details on how to make any necessary payments can be found on the application form which the club secretary will provide you.

  • All you will need to do is complete the “Beginners Course Application Form" and return it to :

    secretary@enfieldarchers.co.uk

    and

    coach@enfieldarchers.co.uk

  • Although we are a small club with limited resources, we strongly believe that archery is a sport for absolutely everyone. We will make every effort to accommodate anyone who wishes to learn.
